April 8, 2020 @ 12:00 am - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 12:00 am on Wednesday, repeating until May 6, 2020

IF MY PEOPLE: a movement of churches uniting together in prayer & fasting. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.

What if the Church united together in prayer and fasting on behalf of our city, country, and world.

We believe that wherever prayer focuses the power of God falls. And that the only truly productive thing we can do in these turbulent times is to pray.  IF MY PEOPLE is a movement of churches in the Bay Area uniting together to pray and fast every Wednesday during this global crisis.  One Church. One Heart.  One Voice.

When:  Every Wednesday, breaking the fast at dinner time.

Press pause on the media stream, the social media feeds, and food for the day.  Use the time you would normally be eating to pray.  Many churches have a midweek broadcast, as well as, resources to help guide your time in prayer.

What is fasting?

In Hebrew, the word for fasting means to “humble one’s soul.”  Fasting is a physical act of humbling our soul before God. The Greek word for fasting means “one who has not eaten,” “who is empty.” And so, fasting is the act of humbling your soul before God by abstaining from something, typically food. Fasting is a physical exclamation point, declaring our desperation & dependence on God. It declares our need for Him is greater than our need for food, water, TV or even other relationships.  We set aside something [food, drink, media] to focus intensely on God.

Prayer Focus:

–  The eradication of the virus, healing for the sick and provision for those most impacted.

–  A spiritual awakening in our city, country, and the world

–  The strengthening and unifying of the Church.
